Mike Ryan Sets New Pikes Peak RecordMike Ryan sets new Pikes Peak record with his DEI, CryO2 equipped Freightliner!

Hello all,

We set our 7th record yesterday at the 90th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with a time of 12:38, eclipsing our previous 2006 record in our old truck by 5 seconds. This new record included a loss of nearly 40 seconds from loosing my brakes and spinning the truck out in the second left hand switchback of the "W's" and backing into and tearing up the guardrail. Once underway from there, running with severely faded brakes, we ran the remaining three and a half miles to the summit cautiously and to top it off, the last two miles of that was in the rain. It is safe to say that I lost a good minute.

Good Afternoon May Motorsports fans,

We are just checking in with a race weekend report.  The team headed to Flat Rock Speedway in Carleton, MI.  After two practice sessions we were able to dial in a pretty good setup on both cars.  #7 Charlie Schultz qualified 2nd and #77 Matt Marlowe in 9th.  Matt was able to take advantage of a great feature starting spot with outside pole, car was race ready and then mechanical problems plagued the #77 resulting in a DNF.  Charlie started 7th and on this particular night the inside row experienced starting difficulties which opened up a great big hole on the outside row which #19 feature winner quickly took advantage.  Charlie had to work a little harder to make his way through the field but in the end had a 3rd place podium finish.   Official race recap as follows:

First he set fast time with a lap of 10.444, and then he won his heat race driving away. And at the end of the night, current Midwest Supermodified Association (MSA) presented by Town Money Saver point’s leader, and defending series Champion, Trent Stephens drove to the front of the 40 lap feature event to take the lead and cruised to yet another victory, adding to his 2012 point’s total. A first time visit for the MSA group and first visit in over 30 years for the Supermodified race car, at the ARCA owned Flat Rock (MI) Speedway.

Charlie Schultz of May Motorsports

May Motorsports checking in with a race weekend update. ISMA (International Supermodified Association) Hy-Miler at Sandusky Speedway took place in front of jam packed stands with cheering crowds and starting the weekend with 31 cars wanting to take trophies home for this two day event. The announcers did a great job getting each team’s sponsors recognized when the cars were on the track.  The pits were filled with race fans and the May Motorsports red supermodified race cars were shined up and ready for on lookers proudly displaying each of your logos.

Friday Night – 40 Lap Race:
#7 Charlie Schulz race car, we missed on set up and began the 40 Lap race loose…loose…loose!
#77 Joe Gosek (former Indy Car Driver and 2011 Oswego Speedway Track Champion) filling in for our regular driver Matt Marlowe) got collected in an unfortunate 4 car pile-up coming off turn three and pit side he came.  Three hours later, car was put back together and ready for Saturday’s 100 lapper.

DEI Sponsored Team Half Fast

June 22-24, 2012 – Always great to be back at Bowling Green!

The weather was HOT, HOT, HOT, and it was everything we could do to keep hydrated and focused.  Sound familiar?  We’ve battled the heat at every race this year – even the one at the end of March.

We decided to do some testing on Friday so we could play with some jetting.  The weather was due to be the same Saturday, so the data would be quite valuable.  The hottest we recorded on Friday was 107.9 with the heat index.

We learned a lot during that test session, though we never did hit that elusive 11.50 – we always seemed to bog off the line.

For Saturday morning’s test session, we capitalized on all that we learned on Friday and ran an 11.495 in our second run.  All our other runs that morning, however, were in the 11.80s just like the day before.

Charlie Schultz of May MotorsportsGood Afternoon May Motorsports Fans,

Add another win to the books for the May Motorsports #7 piloted Charlie Schultz supermodified!  The race took place at Lorain County Speedway under brutal temperatures, but our team persevered and came out as the victors!  We are now positioned 3rd and 6th in points in our racing series, with four MSA (Midwest Supermodified Association) races remaining on the schedule.  We will be competing in another 4 races with the International Supermodified Racing Series (ISMA).

On the pole was Brandon Fisher with Jon Henes starting outside front row. The second row was Jeff Banyas and Charlie Schultz followed by Bobby Dawson, Kyle Edwards, Trent Stephens, DJ Shullick, AJ Lesieki, Jack Smith, Zack Gibson, Matt Marlowe, Mike Haury and Mark Miller. It was Charlie Schultz over DJ Shullick with Bobby Dawson and Kyle Edwards in hot pursuit...
