Follow Charile Schultz of May Motorsports

It’s been awhile since our last post.  Thought it might be a good idea to check in with an update!  As you may know, we run for points in the Midwest Supermodified Association (MSA).  We are currently in 4th with our #7 piloted Charlie Schultz and 7th with our #77 piloted Tim Ice race cars.  Needless to say we are working real hard to improve upon those positions.

This past weekend we went to a new track on the MSA Schedule, South Bend Raceway and had a podium 3rd place finish with Charlie in the #7 car.  The following is a race recap.

Saving the best for last, we are very excited to inform you that #7 Charlie Schultz of May Motorsports has been declared the MSA Supermodified Champion for 2010.  Our final race was scheduled for this past Saturday night at Lorain County Speedway, unfortunately bad weather prevented us from racing.  Similar to a green, white, checker or a race called halfway and the winner declared.

Charlie Schultz of May Motorsports is the 2010 MSA Champion

Our racing organization implemented a new points system for 2010.  Qualifying, Heat and Feature Finishes were all used.  It was a close battle as you can see, but Charlie successfully emerged as the top contender and Tim Ice placing 4th,  only 3 points away from 3rd place.

Tim Ice in the 77 Car Wins at SanduskyComing off an injury just six weeks ago at Lorain County veteran racer Tim Ice kept the pedal down and stayed out of trouble to win a wild one at Sandusky (OH) Speedway in the Midwest Supermodified Association (MSA) special Non Wing Challenge race. Finishing third in his heat race, Ice would set sail from the seventh starting position for the special 50 green flag laps feature event. Drawing several strong cars from the Oswego (NY) area, as well as several MSA regular teams, Ice would have his work cut out for him, however, he was not to be denied. By the end of the 50 lap marathon Ice would roll his bright red trademark May Motorsports Advanced Auto Parts mount into the winners circle capturing his second career MSA checkered flag in front of a thrilled and excited crowd of fans. From start to finish this 50 lap feature quite possibly could go down as the most bazaar in MSA history.

May Motorsports checking in with an Oswego Speedway in NY race weekend update.  Mother Nature certainly did play havoc with the racing schedule this past weekend, the locals calling it “lake effect.”  What started out as a Saturday, 9/4 evening ISMA (International Supermodified Association) 50 Lap Race ended up being a Monday, 9/6 morning 50 Lap Feature instead.   We did get two practice sessions in on Saturday before the rain came in and ended the race day activities.  About the only highlight from Saturday, was that Charlie Schultz in our #7 fire engine red race car was 2nd fastest out of a field of 29 cars.

When the green dropped on Monday morning, Charlie was starting 12th and #77 Tim Ice at 24th .  Tim ended up breaking a right outer tie rod which ended his racing, while Charlie completed all 50 laps finishing in 6th place.  Races were over around 11:00 a.m. and we were packed up and heading home around noon.

May Motorsports is off until 9/18.  We will be competing without the top wing on this day at Sandusky Speedway.
