May Motorsports 2012May Motorsports checking in with a race weekend update.  We headed South to marry off our daughter and sent the team North to Toledo Speedway to compete.  We understand both cars were fast and heading towards the front.  BUT, #77 car pulled in about halfway into the race when Matt noticed oil pressure dropping.  #7 car with Charlie pulled in with three laps to go due to fuel issues.  So, we have lots to figure out when we unload the cars tonight.  We will get this figured out and move onto the next race, which is at Auto Speedway in Clio, MI this upcoming weekend (6/23).  The following is the official race recap:

For the second straight year a Reed Salvage team owned by Craig Reed has visited the Toledo (OH) Speedway victory circle for the annual Midwest Supermodified Association 40 lap feature race. Team driver Mike Lichty took command at lap 16 of the “All American Coach Fastest Short Track Show in the World” and never looked back securing the win. For both Reed and Lichty this was a welcome win for a season that has started very slow for the veteran racers.

Checking in with this past weekend racing recap which took place at Lorain County Speedway.  Lots of high fives going around the team as our newest driver in the #77, Matt Marlowe landed himself a podium finish picking up a 2nd place.  While Charlie Schultz’s finish in the #7 car was so close that he too pulled onto the front stretch thinking he had grabbed 3rd.  IT WAS THAT CLOSE!!!  But that photo finish showed #12 car of Brandon Fisher would end up in the books as the 3rd place finisher with Charlie getting 4th.  All in all, the team was encouraged with the progress from the previous few weeks of racing. There were many late nights prior to Saturday’s race,  strategizing on set up and changes that needed to take place to get back to being more competitive.  We do believe we are off to a good start.  The following is the official racing recap:

Stephens now two in a row in MSA action

2011 Town Money Saver Midwest Supermodified Ass. (MSA) Champion Trent Stephens made it two races in a row, and two weeks in a row, last Saturday night when he once again came through the field making a late race pass for the top spot and just took off from there to get the MSA victory. For the MSA group this was their first of two stops at the Lorain County (OH) Speedway. A place where things have not always went the best for Stephens, this time, however, he would not be denied.

May Motorsports checking in with a racing weekend update.  Not one of our more stellar performing weekends that is for sure, finishing up with a 5th and 9th.  Off season changes to the cars aren’t living up to our expectations and we now need to go back to the drawing board and regroup.  That's racing … sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't!   You just never know until you try.   On a positive note, we have started three races with two cars and have finished three races with two cars. So on to the racing recap …

Green flag dropped with the #7 car starting in 7th finishing 5th and the #77 car starting 4th. finishing 7th.

Charlie Schultz #7 car finished 3rd opening night finishing tight and this race finishing 5th and loose.  So we are struggling a bit to find the right set up.  We are going to have to work harder to get this one figured out!

We welcome Matt Marlowe E-Mod Driver to the May Motorsports team piloting the #77 race car.  Matt’s debut was quite respectable and he began the day with three goals; don’t’ crash, don’t’ spin, and don’t get lapped and he accomplished all three.   Matt adjusted well running 3 seconds per lap faster from his usual E-Mod ride.

All in all to date, we have finished every and all laps.  The following is the “official” race recap.
